Silver Institute Membership Elects New Officers

(Washington, D.C. – June 5, 2019) Michael Steinmann, President and CEO of Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS: NASDAQ and TSX), has been elected President of the Silver Institute by its membership.  He succeeds Octavio Alvidrez, CEO of Fresnillo plc (FRES: LSE).  Bradford Cooke, CEO of Endeavour Silver Corp. (EXK: NYSE and EDR: TSX), was elected Vice President of the Silver Institute, succeeding Mr. Steinmann.  Both companies are based in Vancouver, Canada, and Mr. Steinmann and Mr. Cooke will each serve a two-year term.

“Michael and Bradford are respected silver industry leaders, and we look forward to their leadership as they direct the Institute and its programs,” said Michael DiRienzo, Executive Director of the Silver Institute.

DiRienzo continued, “We are very grateful for the dedicated service of Octavio Alvidrez as the Institute’s President these past two years.  Octavio contributed greatly to the Institute, and we truly appreciate his guidance.”

Brief Bios

Michael Steinmann

Mr. Steinmann has been with Pan American Silver Corp. in different roles since 2004. He was promoted to President in 2015 and named President and CEO in 2016. Mr. Steinmann has over 25 years of experience in the base and precious metals industry.  He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Science (Geology) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ), a M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Zurich, and a Degree in Corporate Finance from Escuela Superior de Administración y Negocios, Lima.

Bradford Cooke

Mr. Cooke is a professional geologist and entrepreneur with 43 years of experience in the mining industry. He has specialized in the formation, management and financing of exploration and mining companies and the acquisition, exploration, development and mining of mineral properties.  Mr. Cooke founded Endeavour Silver Corp. in 2003 for the purpose of acquiring high-grade silver-gold projects in Mexico. Mr. Cooke received a B.Sc. Geology degree (Honors) from Queens University in 1976 and a M.Sc. Geology degree from the University of British Columbia in 1984.
