Set for November 17-18, in Weihai, People's Republic of China
August 13, 2003
(Washington, D.C. - August 13, 2003)
The Silver Institute is pleased to announce that the Second
Annual China Silver Conference will take place on November
17-18, 2003, in Weihai, Shandong Province, People's Republic
of China. This two-day conference will bring together participants from all silver sectors to meet and discuss the latest developments
facing the silver industry in China. This year's conference will have a comprehensive program of presentations from international and domestic industry experts. There will be ample opportunities for extramural networking in which to foster business relationships, beginning with a welcoming reception on Sunday, November 16.
"The Silver Institute is pleased to be a sponsor of this important
international conference," said Paul Bateman, Executive Director
of the Silver Institute. The conference will build on the
tremendous success of the first conference, held last September
in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, where over 300 delegates met to
discuss the Chinese silver market and associated industries.
The Shanghai White Platinum and Silver Exchange is organizing
the 2003 conference, in cooperation with the Huaye Construction
& Development Company. The conference's principal sponsors
currently include: the China General Chamber of Commerce;
the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemical
Importers and Exporters; the China Gemological Association;
the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association; and the
Silver Institute. The Municipal People's Government of Weihai
is serving as the conference host.
The conference is open to all interested parties, and foreign
participation is greatly encouraged by the conference's organizers
and sponsors. "China's silver industry is experiencing substantial
change, with growth in the refining, manufacturing, mining,
photographic, and jewelry sectors," Bateman said. "This conference
offers abundant opportunities to business leaders to forge
new relationships in this important and evolving market that
may lead to product sales and investment opportunities," Bateman
added.
Conference program information and registration requirements
will soon be forthcoming from the Shanghai White Platinum
and Silver Exchange.
